A MARQUIS ENTERTAINMENT PRODUCTION
IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE CITADEL THEATRE
Toronto → MAY 24 - JUNE 8
the best of Italian culture showcased in an extraordinary solo performance. An award-winning journey through love, laughs, and loud Italian dinners.
MADE IN ITALY
A Marquis Entertainment Production in association with the Citadel Theatre
Created by & Starring Farren Timoteo
Directed by Daryl Cloran
An italian teenager growing up in Jasper in the 1970s, caught between two worlds and determined to make his mark. Could singing on TV’s “search for talent” be his ticket out of here? Filled with great songs (Italian and disco!) This is a hilarious coming of age story about a kid with the heart of rocky balboa and the moves (and hair) of John Travolta.
Salvatore Mantini, an Italian immigrant from Abruzzo, invites the audience to eat with him in his traditional dining room in Jasper, Alberta. As he prepares the meal, course-by-course, aperitivo to dolce, Salvatore’s story unfolds. As does the story of Francesco Mantini, his teenage son, struggling in the 1970s to find his place in small-town Alberta. Filled with popular music from both Italy and North America, Made in Italy is a raucous and heart-warming celebration of family best enjoyed with a glass of red wine.

“Fantastico!”
“Timoteo is an exuberant and physically dynamic actor and singer. He leaps from floor to chair to table, microphone in hand, to perform songs ranging from Italian arias to Bee Gees hits.”
Liane Faulder, Edmonton Journal
“I can’t think of a Canadian actor since Eric Peterson in Billy Bishop Goes to War who moves so seamlessly among multiple characters an displays such remarkable comic chops.”
Jerry Wasserman, Vancouver Sun
“The show’s primary colour is comedy, but within that framework, Timoteo makes solid, serious points about the immigrant experience, as well as striking just the right note of poignancy in the end.”
Randall King, the Winnipeg Free Press
“Made in Italy features everything from Italian arias to Disco dancing, with plenty of comedy and heartwarming family moments between catchy numbers.”
broadwayworld.com
“Made in Italy offers valuable insights into Italian culture, language and the immigrant experience. Timoteo’s ability to carry the entire show single-handedly makes it a standout experience that balances entertainment with an exploration of cultural nuances.”
Vama Saini, The Gauntlet
“Sometimes I strain to come up with one moment that is memorable, well done, eloquent or significant – in this play there were too many choices I can’t pick just one.”
Caroline Russell-King, Postcard Review
“Timoteo excels at shifting from one character to the next at the drop of a hat… all it takes is an exaggerated facial expression to leave the audience in stitches.”
Sarah Dussome, BroadwayWorld
“He’s an actor, a powerhouse singer, a skilled writer and an accomplished clown, and his solo show is carefully constructed to showcase all his abilities. To call Edmonton actor Farren Timoteo multitalented hardly does him justice.”
Louis B. Hobson, Calgary Herald
The award-winning solo show that proves family is always the main act.
Farren Timoteo’s “Made in Italy” is winner of the Sterling Award (Edmonton), Jessie Award (Vancouver) and Betty Mitchell Award (Calgary) for Outstanding Lead Performance in a Comedy, as well as the Calgary Theatre Critic's Award for Outstanding Performance in a One-Person Show.
